This is terrible!...how can this happen!?! How?!
I spent more than 70 hours of my time on my design, and am just SICK now when I think of how many COUNTLESS man-hours were wasted by superior designs than those found in the top-15.
How can this happen? Listen to your player-base! Listen to all of my fellow-designers! This is a tragedy!
This just makes me sick. Just sick.
I feel your pain dude. Had 2 entries myself with countless hours of designing, modeling and texturing. It was going to be very difficult to get into the top 15, but after what I just saw what 'the best 15' are I just had to cry a little inside.
Look on the brightside though. Now I can use my creations for my own game. A little change in design and texture and they are ready to go.

Yeah those looked great. I have them in my favorites, along with alot of other good entries Favorites. To bad my Katar had to lose also against the mayority of the last 15. Don't get me wrong, about 4-5 of them deserved to be in the top 15, but boy what a downer it turned out to be in the end.

What should have happened imo is that the team to pick the semi-finals consisted of DA staff + CCP artists. That way it would have been more balanced.
Being an architect myself (and been in judging panels), there is a reason that in an Architectual contest the mayority of judges consists of architects. A judge from another field of work is welcome because of the unique perspective they bring into the panel, however the experts on the topic are there to keep an eye on things that a judge from another field would miss.
Like for example " That is a direct copy from something tried in 1800", or "Nice design but it doesn't take into acount a/ b/ etc.". Well you get the point.
So it doesn't mean that DA judges are incompetent like alot of EvE players state, it's just that the overall judging lacks informative input from CCP themselves. Looking at 1 or more demo's from EVE online as a DA judge doesn't cut it, as simple as that. Like said not all judges need to be well informed about EVE, but a few artists from CCP would have balanced things.
The contest is done however, nothing to change now and no need to make hate-speeches towards DA, it aint their fault. Hopefully there will be something learned when it comes to big contest like this.
I stated this as well on th DA boards. It's done guys, the contest is over, lets hope they pick a nice winner and let's move on.

How is it over when these people change semi finalists after the contest should have ended Also CCP hasn't made the final pick yet...
This is far from over my good friend...
mmmm. I just saw this link on dA. I haven't noticed it before but it seems the rules have indeed been changed. Maybe because of this my entries are not falid, however I have never got a notification of it, so I really don't know.
This is the link: Changing of rules
Still I think it's done with the Contest. A winner will be picked out of the current 15.
